The Chinese government has been committed to optimizing the business environment in recent years,which has resulted in the continuous rise of its international ranking in terms of business environment.In 2020,China's business environment ranking rose from 15 th to 31 st globally,making it one of the top 10 economies with the most significant improvements in the global business environment for two consecutive years.
Since the World Bank's annual report Doing Business was officially launched in 2002,it has extended to cover 190 economies and has become the basis for central bank decisions worldwide and an important guide for Foreign Direct Investment(FDI).The World Economic Forum(WEF)has been evaluating the competitiveness of each country since 1979 and has established itself as one of the most renowned international organizations in the field of competitiveness evaluation.By holistically evaluating factors about individual countries or regions,it publishes the annual Global Competitiveness Report .This report's competitiveness rankings are rooted in the Global Competitiveness Index,which encompasses 12 pillars of competitiveness including institutions,infrastructure,and macroeconomic stability,and serves as an important guide for international investments.
Considering China's increasing focus on enhancing the business environment and propelling regional economic and societal growth,a proactive assessment of the business environment,conducted by referring to the World Bank's Doing Business report,integrating the standard system from the WEF's Global Competitiveness Report ,and using internationally recognized benchmarks,can showcase the local investment potential and competitiveness to global investors with enhanced clarity,efficiency,and international level,and contribute to the continuous optimization of local business environments.
In April 2020,RDI undertook a key project commissioned by the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC),titled Research on the Openness Index System of Countries along the Belt and Road .Drawing on the results of relevant domestic and international research,and taking into account the actual situation of the construction of the BRI,RDI has developed a set of quantifiable and operable indicator systems using statistical methodologies,which is of great practical value and significance for understanding the business environment within BRI countries and also lays a scientific foundation for investment promotion and industrial introduction of various places.
