Foreword

To push forward cancer registration in an allround way, the National Central Cancer Registry(hereinafter referred to as NCCR) started compiling and publishing China Cancer Registry Annual Report since 2008, which have provided scientific evidence for cancer prevention and control in China.

To make full use of cancer registration data for aid in cancer prevention and control, Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention(hereinafter referred to as Guangdong CDC), in collaboration with cancer registries in Guangdong Province, began compiling Guangdong Cancer Registry Annual Report since 2012. Guangdong Cancer Registry Annual Report 2017 gives a full profile on the incidence and mortality of malignant tumors in the catchment areas covered by cancer registries of Guangzhou City, Shenzhen City, Zhongshan City, Urban Jiangmen, Sihuicounty-level City, Zhuhai City, Nanxiong-county-level City, Dongguan City, Shunde District in Foshan City and Duanzhou District in Zhaoqing City in 2014. This report falls into five chapters including “Introduction”“ Registration Contents and Registration Procedures”“Registration Data Quality Assessment”“Major Results”“Appendices”.

This annual report would not have came into being without the joint efforts of colleagues from cancer registries (mostly affiliated to centers for disease control and prevention), reporting hospitals,community health centers, rural health centers,health and family planning sectors at all levels in Guangdong Province and support from NCCR and other provincial cancer registries. We sincerely express our gratitude to their contribution!
