Frithjof从一个完美的业余爱好者变成了一个专业人士,无论他是把你当作硅藻研究的同事、导师、朋友还是熟人,他留下来的财富是多方面的,他既了解显微镜应用以及载玻片制备和显微摄影的复杂性,又理解并支持分类学和解决命名问题的重要性,以及这些研究如何为硅藻生态学、生物地层学和细胞学研究提供合法性,他一直致力于硅藻研究,来源于他的手稿和参与的尚未发表的成果 [112-116] 。具体而言,Frithjof被称为布纹藻属和斜纹藻属的权威来源。

为了所有研究硅藻的人的利益,Frithjof的收藏品已捐赠给德国不来梅港的弗里德里希赫斯特硅藻研究中心的阿尔弗雷德韦格纳研究所。正如José所说,60年来,他是一位非常亲爱、充满爱心、始终开朗和乐观的丈夫。按照Frithjof的意愿,他的骨灰现在安息在海底的硅藻中。Frithjof总是说他的墓志铭应该写成“永不沉闷的时刻”,他的愿望得到了满足。正如Hein de Wolf在文章中所说的那样 [117] ,来自José的消息:
