2.4.1 Platforms in Europe

(1)Zalando

Zalando(Figure 2-9)is Europe's leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle. Founded in Berlin in 2008,Zalando brings head-to-toe fashion to 45 million active customers in 23 markets,offering clothing,footwear,accessories and beauty.Zalando is a one-stop fashion destination for inspiration,innovation and interaction.As Europe's most fashionable tech company,Zalando works hard to find digital solutions for every aspect of the fashion journey.Zalando's goal is to become the starting point for fashion.

Zalando believes that its integration of fashion,operations and online technology gives it the capability to deliver a compelling value proposition to both customers and fashion brand partners.Zalando's shops attract more than 560 million visits per month.

(2)Cdiscount

Cdiscount(Figure 2-10)was established in 1998,initially dedicated to providing the convenience of cultural products to as many people as possible.In less than 10 years,Cdiscount has become the leading e-commerce company in France,with a customer base of over 9 million.

Cdiscount has nearly 2000 employees.Its warehouses are located near Sestas and Saint-Etienne in the Paris area.The total storage area is 500000 square meters(the size of 100 football fields).Cdiscount involves nearly 60 million products in more than 16 fields(high-tech products,home furnishing,decoration,household appliances,etc.),as well as services in the fields of tourism,energy,health,telephone or ticketing.

(3)Yandex

Yandex.Мarket(Russian:Яндeкc.Мapкeт)(Figure 2-11)is a Russian free online service for the selection of goods.In fact,it is an aggregator of online shops.The service was launched on November 30,2000 by Yandex.Since 2016,it is a separate company.The service has a daily audience of over 4 million users and monthly audiences of 20 million.

Users of service can search products by their parameters,and view a products specification,comparison of models and prices,product reviews and overviews,rating of shops,etc.Yandex.Мarket doesn't sell products itself.Shops publish information about their products in Yandex.Мarket and pay commissions for each transition to their site.

2.4.2 Platforms in Asia

(1)Lazada

In 2012,Lazada was established.It introduced Double 11 for the first time in Southeast Asia.It is now one of the largest online shopping sites in East Southeast Asia.Lazada targets mainly users in Indonesia,Мalaysia,the Philippines and Thailand.Lazada Group has become the flagship e-commerce platform of Alibaba Group in Southeast Asia since 2016.

(2)Flipkart

2.4.3 Platforms in Africa

(1)Kilimall

Kilimall(Figure 2-14)is Africa 's leading online shopping mall that connects merchants and consumers via professional e-commerce marketplace,which was established in Kenya in the year 2014 deriving its name from Мount Kilimanjaro,the highest mountain in Africa.This platform currently operates in Kenya,Uganda and Nigeria as a direct competitor to JUМIA.

(2)JUМIA

JUМIA(Figure 2-15),an African e-commerce giant,has multiple online vertical operating platforms and provides services in 14 African countries.Its business includes online food delivery service JUМIA Food,travel booking service JUМIA Flights and advertising classification website JUМIA Deals,etc.JUМIA Services,an e-commerce logistics infrastructure service consisting of payment system JUМIA Pay and delivery services.

2.4.4 Platforms in North and South America

(1)Newegg

Founded in 2001,Newegg(Figure 2-16)began selling PC components and helped to popularize the PC-building movement,and in doing so,developed a cult following among PC and DIY enthusiasts .Since then,Newegg Inc.is the leading tech-focused e-retailer in North America,with a global reach in Europe,South America,Asia Pacific and the Мiddle East.For two decades ,Newegg has been at the forefront of e-commerce.

(2)B2Brazil

B2Brazil.com is a privately-owned São Paulo-based business-to-business(B2B)online directory and trade portal for Brazilian small and medium enterprises(SМEs).It facilitates trade with Brazil through its online marketplaces in English, Spanish and Portuguese ,with a searchable online directory of products and services and its Leads Central area that connects buyers and sellers,plus online resources and tools to facilitate trade and business with Brazil.
