听力对话中常包含有表示比较级、最高级、同级比较和while, in comparison with等其他具有比较含义的词语和句式结构。因此熟悉多种比较词汇及比较结构对于理解说话者所表达的含义尤为重要。做这类题时要弄清比较对象、被比较对象之间的关系以及比较的内容,这样才能提高听力的准确率。
1)相同之处(similarities)

differ from, different from, unlike, though, in contrast with, by contrast, as opposed to,conversely, however, although, despite/in spite of, yet, but, while, whereas, alternatively,nevertheless, on the contrary/to the contrary, on the one hand... on the other hand
1)含有形容词、副词的比较级,比如:(much /even /still /further/less)than..., more... than...
2)含有形容词、副词的最高级,比如:...is the tallest of all...
3)同级比较结构,比如:as... as..., not so /as... as...
4)比较级句型中常出现否定词no,never,nothing等,用来表达最高级含义。比如:
I love nothing better than playing tennis.(= I love playing tennis best.)我最喜欢打网球。
I have never seen as beautiful an oil painting as this.(= This is the most beautiful oil painting that I have ever seen.)这是我见过的最漂亮的油画。
5)the +比较级,the +比较级,意为“越……越……”,比如:The more you invest, the more you will gain.投资越多,收益越多。
6)more than,意为“比……更多;超过”,比如:He likes painting more than you do.他比你更喜欢绘画。
7)less than,意为“比……更少;很不,很少”,比如:The children were less than happy about doing their homework.孩子们并不乐意写作业。
8)prefer… to…,意为“喜欢……胜过……”,比如:I prefer swimming to running.比起跑步,我还是更喜欢游泳。
9)more A than B,意为“与其说B,不如说A;不是B而是A”,比如:He is a professional athlete more in name than in reality.他是个名不副实的专业运动员。
10)not so much A as B,意为“与其说A,不如说B”,比如:She is not so much a teacher as a poet.与其说她是个老师,不如说她是位诗人。
11)no better than,意为“和……一样;实际等于……”,比如: His grandfather is no better than he was yesterday.他祖父的情况跟昨天一样。
12)not... any more than或no more... than,意为“同……一样不”,比如:She could not do that any more than you.你不能做这件事,她也不能做。
13)nothing like,意为“没有什么能比得上……”,比如:There is nothing like walking as a means of keeping fit.要保持健康,没有比散步更好的办法了。
14)nothing like /near as/so... as,意为“远远不像……那样”,比如:Her cooking is nothing like as good as yours.她做饭的手艺绝比不上你。
15)no less... than,意为“和……一样”,比如:She is no less beautiful than she used to be.她和过去一样美丽。
