齐风·南山

南山崔崔，雄狐绥绥。鲁道有荡，齐子由归。既曰归止，曷又怀止？

葛 屦 jù 五两，冠緌双止。鲁道有荡，齐子庸止。既曰庸止，曷又从止？

蓺 yì 麻如之何？衡从其亩。取妻如之何？必告父母。既曰告止，曷又鞠止？

析薪如之何？匪斧不克。取妻如之何？匪媒不得。既曰得止，曷又极止？

Incest

The southern hill is great;

A male fox seeks his mate.

The way to Lu is plain;

Your sister with her train

Goes to wed Duke of Lu.

Why should you go there too?

The shoes are made in pairs

And strings of gems she wears.

The way to Lu is plain;

Your sister goes to reign

And wed with Duke of Lu.

Why should you follow her too?

For hemp the ground is ploughed and dressed

From north to south, from east to west.

When a wife comes to your household,

Your parents should be told.

If you told your father and mother,

Should your wife go back to her brother?

How is the firewood split?

An axe can sever it.

How can a wife be won?

With go-between it’s done.

To be your wife she’s vowed;

No incest is allowed.

高高南山下，雄狐慢慢走。

鲁道平又宽，齐女由此过，成为鲁侯的新娘。

既然她已经成了鲁侯的新娘，齐侯你何必再念念不忘。

葛鞋成双，冠带两条。

怎么娶妻，必然要禀告父母。

怎么砍柴，非得凭借利斧。

怎么娶妻，非得有媒人不可。

既然已经娶回家，为什么还要这么放纵她。
