如果有两个或更多“小”句子由and，but，or，so这类并列连词连接，这个“大”句子就称为并列句（Compound Sentence），“小”句子就称为并列分句（Coordinate Clause）。举例如下：
【简单句】
一个完整的主谓结构。
例：The man arrived at the house.
The man arrived at the house and knocked at the door.
The man and the woman arrived at the house.
The man and the woman arrived at the house and knocked at the door.
【并列句】
两个完整的主谓结构，通常由并列连词连接。
例：I love my mom and my mom loves me.
The man knocked at the door but no one answered.
常见的表示并列关系的连接词有 and, but, while, or, whereas 。
