A brief introduction to the Content

An excellent traditional culture is a gene of the Chinese nation and the lifeblood of national culture.Over a long period of time, the Bai nationality have absorbed the excellent culture of other ethnic groups through exchanges and blends with them, and have formed their own unique traditional ethical and moral culture. The Bai traditional ethical culture regulates people's behaviour in daily life and restrains their actions in the form of family customs and family rules.Specific moral codes are reflected in the rituals of life, the moral requirements of festival culture, the ethical norms in merchant trade, the ethical concepts in the residential building, the ethical ideas in the beliefs of the native patron god,the village rules and regulations in inscriptions and the village culture. The book consists of three chapters on Bai philosophy, ethics and moral culture, the preservation and development of Bai village culture, and the changing attitudes of Bai women to childbirth and education.

The Bai people have a long history and a splendid culture. Many scholars have studied Bai history, literature, education andart, also there are many books on the subject. However, there are not many books that study ethics and morality in Bai culture from a philosophical perspective. It can be said that this book has important theoretical value and practical significance for the transmission and protection of the excellent traditional ethics in the Bai region, the establishment of core socialist values and the revitalisation of the countryside.

The significance of the publication of this book is that, firstly,it reflects the author's cultural self-awareness and self-confidence.With a deep and heated love for the Bai culture, the author explores the ethical and moral concepts in the culture ofhis people.Secondly,it can enrich the study of Bai philosophical thought, ethics and morality.Thirdly,it focuses on villages, women in villages and village ecology from a new perspective.Fourthly,it is important in the revitalisation of villages, industrial transformation and the development of health industries in Bai areas,in regulating people's behavioural norms and in raising the level of moral value.

The author, who is from the Bai group, was brought up with Bai culture and grew up in a Bai village on the shores of the Cang Mountains and the Er Sea.She studied philosophy at university and has been engaged in education and research on ethnic culture for a long time after graduation. She travelled around the villages in the Bai region to conduct a survey of Bai traditional culture, entering the field as a Bai culture holder and collecting information through oral history and documentary research methods. On this basis, the author fully explores the ethical and moral concepts in Bai traditional culture, and uses villages, the folk residential buildings Zhaobi, festivals, temples of the Patron God,and inscriptions as carriers to discover the binding and regulating effects of their traditional ethics and morals on people's behaviour,so as to explore the connotations and values of Bai ethics and morals.
