Good morning！

First of all， please allow me to extend my warmest welcome to all of you to come to Hainan for this prestigious conference that has encouraged hundreds of scholars from different countries and places to participate. On behalf of Hainan Association for Science and Technology， I want to congratulate you in advance for a very successful meeting at the opening ceremony of your 10th CAFIC International Conference.

In today’s global village， the ability to carry successful intercultural communication is an important productive force for every genre of industry whether it is information service， agriculture， trade or tourism. We want that Hainan professionals and scholars in both social and natural sciences and technologies join their hands and exercise more wisdom in communication with the outside world. As the southernmost province and the largest special economic zone of China， Hainan has been extending efforts to take leadership in eco-tourism， tropical organic agriculture， and oceanic bioengineering in the nation. We want to know more about your field of study and improve our ability to communicate with peoples of different cultures. Your conference here is timely for us.

For these good reasons， Hainan Association for Science and Technology is very honored to offer support through the Translators Association of Hainan that co-hosts the meeting with Hainan University Tourism College. The Translators Association of Hainan is associated with Hainan Association for Science and Technology as a subordinate organization. We are glad to see that this organization is playing an active role in organizing such a high-profile conference. It is our hope it will make more contributions to academic exchanges between Hainan and the rest of the world.

I have heard that there are about 400 scholars who came to share your views from different perspectives under the great theme of “Intercultural Communication for a Harmonious World： Challenges and Opportunities .” Some of you traveled from Russia，USA， Germany， Finland， the Netherlands， Singapore， Japan； many are from other provinces of China， Hong Kong， Macau， and Taiwan. Based on the information provided in your Conference Program， you have been studying intercultural communication from the perspectives of foreign language teaching and learning， commerce and trade，medical science， pedagogy， psychology， sociology， political science， information technology and engineering， and other fields. It is the largest and most important conference in the field of intercultural studies Hainan has ever hosted. I am sure this conference will serve as a mile stone in interdisciplinary studies.

While you are busy with your conference schedules， may I suggest you find minutes to walk around Hainan University campus for its fresh air and simple tropical greens at all corners. Please do not forget to tour around Haikou suburbs to discover local ethnic cultural specials. I know most of you will visit Haikou Volcanic Cluster Geopark on the last day of your conference， and some of you will travel to Qionghai and Sanya for the hot springs and beaches. I hope you will forget the haze in the northern cities and enjoy your stay in Hainan. I also welcome you to come back for vacations time and again.
