本章主要就“增长三角”理论、“点轴”理论、相互依存理论、跨国次区域经济合作实践、地缘功能主义合作等现实来源，论争等情况进行了客观述评，为环喜马拉雅区域经济合作研究提供理论支撑。实际上，无论“增长三角”理论还是地缘功能主义合作都暗含了对某个区域主观推动发展的语意，并且功能性合作真实意图并非在于实现经济收益。而环喜马拉雅区域作为地球上特殊生态环境和经济社会发展总体落后的现实，通过环保前提下以通道建设为空间布局的合作来促进地区发展，或将是实现亚洲区域经济均衡发展的一种选择。从地缘上讲，中国与域内多个国家接壤。而随着交通能力的提升，中国西藏地区日渐凸显出政策优势和地缘优势，成为环喜马拉雅区域经济合作的核心圈所在。在青藏铁路以及拉日铁路先后通车后，西藏对南亚国家的辐射影响力进一步凸显。考虑到喜马拉雅山麓特有的地理位置以及未来可观的发展前景，中国与印度、巴基斯坦、孟加拉国等南亚国家联合开展深层次经济合作，进一步提高合作的质量与经贸互惠频度，在“逆全球化”迹象抬头以及全球经济不均衡发展加剧背景下，探索适合有利于环喜马拉雅区域居民幸福生活的机制建设，有着极大的可期性与可塑性。总体上看，环喜马拉雅区域国家各民族间共通的文化发展脉络、共通的地域活动范围、共通的对未来美好生活的追求等因素，让我们不仅对通过经济合作来实现地区繁荣有了更多信心，也对高政治领域合作和政治收益有了新的期盼。
