总体来看，本书基本完成了预期研究任务，但也存在着一定的不足和欠缺，主要有以下三点不足：（1）对各地近些年在经办模式的总结方面只是比较了典型的四种模式，对于其他模式总结得不够。（2）对于四种典型模式和其他模式演变的深层原因，以及促使这些模式演变原因的分析不够深入。（3）国外典型模式、重点国家社会保险经办模式和其社会、政治、经济之间的关系分析不够深入。
在未来研究中，笔者将会按照上述三点不足，继续深入，进一步构建各种经办模式演变模型，以期通过数学建模来验证已获得数据变量的相关性和结构性，并从宏观和微观结合的视角研究整个社会保险经办体系的结构要素、框架内容、运行机制和实现路径，尤其是对经办模式的演变机制和核心影响因素的研究，为社会保险管理体制改革的深入推进提供更加完善的理论支持和决策参考。
