Introduction ：This paper is the initial research of Postgames Development and Utilization of Beijing Olympic Venues funded by the National Natural Research Fund of PRC.This paper intends to systematically research on the experiences and lessons of Olympic venues operation after the games.Research has been also carried out on the present situation of Beijing Olympic Venues operation，its role in the development of regional economy and international sports city，which provides theoretical basis for the development of Beijing Olympic Outcome and the construction of international sports city and world city.
Methods ：Interview，questionaire and literature review have been adopted in the research.2000 Beijingers were randomly selected as samples regarding their sport demand with the Olympic Venues.30 BOCOG and governmental officials and scholars were also interviewed regarding the general policies and possible strategies for the venues.
Results ：The main experiences of postgames utilization of the previous Olympic venues reveal：1，The Operation of Olympic Venues must be integrated into the social and economic development of the city；2，Olympic venues management should be combined with pro sport；3，Relying on sport，Olympic venues must be combined with tourist，performance and recreational industries to be reshaped into a new industrial model；4，Intangible assets must be given high attention；5，Scientific and appropriate organizational design plays a key role.This paper shows that 68.2％ of people in Beijing expected that Beijing Olympic venues should be open to the public for sport and recreational activities at reasonable price.Aquatic sports（53.7％），tennis（35.2％），shooting（23.9％），beach volleyball（13.4％），archery（10.7％）were the most favourite sports that Beijingers were desired to participate.The main revenues of the major Olympic venues including Bird Nest，Water Cube and National Arena have been mainly gained from tourist ticketing，leasing of the venues，licensing，art performances and sports events，of which tourist ticketing covers around 80％.The development of Beijing Olympic venues has greatly enhanced regional economic development.The Olympic Functional Area enjoys the fastest growth among the other five upgrade functional industrial areas in Beijing.In addition，the Olympic venues play very important role in the maximization of natural and humanistic environment，the improvement of living qualities of Beijing citizens and social organization.
Discussion/ Conclusion ：After two years of operation，positive economic profits were shown in the postgames utilization of Beijing Olympic venues.Beijing Olympic venues play multi-functional role in social and economic development of Beijing.
Studies show that postgames utilization of Olympic venues still remains a very compicated problem.Few of the previous host cities have satisfactorily solved it.Beijing’s experience shows that sport for all should be blended into postgames utilization of the venues，which helps to form a multi-industrial model.Only in this way can we sustainably achieve the social and economic outcome in reality.The following strategies are proposed：
Firstly，Olympic venues should be melted with arts，amusements，and other elements to make these activities more attractive and interesting.
Secondly，Olympic Park should be developed into a new industrial zone where various service industries join together to form a brand new industrial model.
Thirdly，enough attention should be given to the design of long term master plan，the improvement of organizational system，the exploitation of intangible assets and the development of investment，financial and political systems.
