Research status and trend of international Olympic movement based on mapping of knowledge

Introduction ：The Olympic movement is a global research project.What academic research topic in the field today？What is the characteristics and development trends of the international Olympic Movement？Scientometrics analysis is an effective way to find the answer.Today，an effective tool to get knowledge，knowledge discovery and exploration-knowledge mapping and knowledge visualization，is growing.This method can make massive scientific literature data into visual images.The paper using knowledge mapping，analysis the current research status of the international Olympic movement，grasp the characteristics and trends of international Olympic Movement，provide reference for the Olympic Movement research.

Methods ：Take 1196 Olympic Movement research papers from 1995 to 2009 in Web of science database as the research object，using citation analysis，co-occurrence analysis，mapping scientific knowledge by means of the information visualization software CiteSpace developed by Chinese American scholar Dr.Chen Chaomei.

Results ：The United States，England，Australia，China，Greece，Canada，France，Italy，Germany，Japan，Spain and Norway，New Zealand are high productivity in the Olympic Movement research.The total number of research papers of China ranks 4 ^th place out in the world，showing that Chinese Olympic Movement researcher is active and take the leading position in the international arena.Olympic Games provide effective power and a good opportunity for researching Olympic Movement.The university is the backbone of the Olympic Movement research institutions.High-yield research institutions around the world including Olympic Academy of Sciences，Tsinghua University，Peking University，the Australian Sports Institute，Liverpool John Moores University，University of Sao Paulo，University of Alberta，University of Thessaly，Norwegian University of Sport.China’s three high-yield institutions’researching contents include environmental，economic，safety，energy conservation，venue construction，doping，performance-based discrimination，while the other six high-yield institutions are doing research for enhancing performance-based sports science.Also，the keywords of the international Olympic movement and their change during the four time periods detected by software analysis.

Conclusion ：Since 1995，the international Olympic movement researchers study the main theme-the Olympic Games from many perspectives，include the historical，social，political，economic，organizational management，educational，environmental，sports，biological etc.，it shows that Olympic games has developed into a large-scale social movements，it’s already far beyond the sports.the current research focus and trends of International Olympic Movement are：the Olympic Games and the Competitive sports is the study core，the power of technology is held in high regard today in Olympic games，doping-control is getting Consolidated，environmental protection is paid more attention，public health service is the basis for protection of the Olympic Games，the degree of attention on Winter Olympics is increasingly clear，the Olympics return to the nature of education，etc..
