盛鹤年：画家盛焕文（笔如花）长子，赵宏本关门弟子。

著名连环画家、国画家，上海市美术家协会会员。

自幼从父习画，1952 年 15 岁开始从事连环画创作；第一部连环画作品为红星书局出版的《班超》，之后便开始合作或独立创作；曾为上海、北京、辽宁、天津、江苏、贵州等地出版社创作《司马迁》《连环计》《反冀州》《海瑞》《沈小霞相会出师表》《双玉蝉》《团圆之后》《洛神》《宗泽》《文成公主》《虞允文》《山寨火种》《乌江东去》《夏完淳的故事》等数十部连环画。1956 年，盛鹤年代替父亲参与创作了上海美术出版社的大型连环画套书《三国演义》中的分册《战长沙》。

20 世纪 80 年代后，盛鹤年专注于国画创作，其国画技艺师承父辈，尤其传统线描功底深厚，作品传至海外。上海人民美术出版社曾特邀盛鹤年主笔，绘制了高等艺校美术基础系列教材《白描人物十招》《中国画白描基础（人物篇）》以及《中国古代人物线描画谱》等国画教材型著书。另外，他还为连环画套书《狄青演义》《兴唐传》绘制了二十多幅精彩的国画封面。

此册《〈三国演义〉工笔精绘本》系盛鹤年先生从 1999 年至 2008 年期间绘制工笔国画作品，共计六十多幅，历时十年，为其晚年倾力巨作。

Childhood: started to study traditional Chinese painting from his father.

1952: Published his first picture-story book Ban Chao by Red-Star Publishing House.

1952-1984: Had created and published more than fifty picture-story books including the story of Fighting in Changsha City, The Legend of Three Kingdoms.

1986-1999: Focus on developing his art in the field of traditional Chinese painting. For his skills of traditional Chinese painting of fine brushwork and line drawing. He was invited to write three professional books to help people to learn how to draw traditional Chinese painting in 1990s in Shanghai.

The Legend of Three Kingdom: Traditional Chinese Painting, is his immoral art creation since 1999 to 2008 of his last decade.
