韦奋力向前，砍死二十余人。马军方退，步军又到，两边枪如苇列。韦身无片甲，上下被数十枪，兀自死战。刀砍缺不堪用，韦即弃刀，双手提着两个军人迎敌，击死者八九人。群贼不敢近，只远远以箭射之，箭如骤雨。韦犹死拒寨门。争奈寨后贼军已入，韦背上又中一枪，乃大叫数声，血流满地而死。死了半晌，还无一人敢从前门而入者。

Dian Wei advanced and cut down a score of soldiers. No sooner had the horsemen left than the foot soldiers came forward. On either side spears stood like reeds. Dian Wei did not wear any helmet or armour for protection, after a short time, he was covered with dozens of wounds, but he still fought desperately until he threw of his broken sword which could not be used any more. He started to seize a couple of soldiers in hands as weapons, and atacked the enemy. Eight or nine soldiers were killed; the others dared not to approach, but they shot arrows at Dian Wei in distance. These arrows fell as thick as rain, however Dian Wei still stood in front gate of the camp to hold these soldiers. Meanwhile, some soldiers had entered the camp from the rear gate, and throw a spear at Dian Wei’s back. Dian Wei utered loud cries and fell down to the ground. His blood gushed from his back, and soarked the ground. Even after Dian Wei was dead , no one dared to pass through the front gate of camp.
