In order to be able to read this book, some mathematical background is necessary, including elementary number theory, probability theory, combinatorial theory,as well as algebra, geometry,or even game theory, etc. This chapter aims to be accessible to students and engineers with the fundamentals of coding mathematics. There is no assumption of the background in abstract algebra, probability, set theory and measure theory.Only a little calculus and linear algebra is needed.Table 1.0.1 gives the notations and symbols used in this book.
