Bohac: That's great. I can't say I'm a whiz 4 at engineering. I like it; it's interesting, but as for having a gift for 5 it, well, only in my dreams.
Lucas (laughing): You're a first year and I'm a second year, so maybe I can help you out if you get in a pickle 6 .
Bohac: “Pickle”?
Lucas: Sorry. American idiom. “In a pickle”means “in difficulty 7 ”.
Bohac: Isn't a pickle a kind of ... preserved cucumber?
Lucas (delighted): Yeah, yeah. Your English is so good. Weird, huh? In truth, I don't know where the idiom comes from, now that you mention it. I'll look it up later online.
