Task One Role Play

Work in pairs and play the roles in the following situations.
Situation 1

It’s 9:30 a.m.Thursday.The HR Manager is interviewing a job applicant for the position of sales representative.

Student A: Job Applicant

⊙ You have just graduated from university, majoring in business English.

⊙ You have good team spirit and language skills.

⊙ You have little work experience.

Student B: HR Manager

⊙ Ask about the education background.

⊙ Ask about the personal qualities.

⊙ Ask about the weaknesses.

Situation 2

It’s 2:30 p.m.Friday.The HR Manager is interviewing a job applicant for the position of Secretary to the General Manager.

Student A: HR Manager

⊙ Ask about the work experience.

⊙ Ask about the secretarial skills.

⊙ Ask about the personal qualities.

Student B: Job Applicant

⊙ You have five years of work experience.

⊙ You can use computer well, have good organizational skills and good writing skills.

⊙ You are careful and can work well under pressure.

Task Two Group Work

Work in a group of four or six to simulate a panel interview.

Devise a specific company and have some students act as the interviewers(hiring managers)of the company and the other students act as the job applicants applying for some job vacancies provided by the company.Use your own imagination to act the panel interviews out.In the end the interviewers need to choose the most successful candidate and give reasons.

Task Three Presentation

Prepare two 3-minute presentations on the following topics and make the presentations to your group or to the whole class .

1.How to prepare for a job interview?

2.How to make a good impression during a job interview?
