概况

这是一个位于纪念馆内的餐馆和高级酒吧。餐厅可容240人而酒吧则可容350人。消费对象是30来岁、高收入并具有高教育水平和文化的阶层。

设计意念

1.建筑物本身就是一个国家纪念物,整个设计要创造出一个能成为墨西哥城社会焦点的背景。

2.体现“卡特兰”(巴塞罗纳)精神,突出达里(Dali)、高迪(Gaudi)和米罗(Miro)等西班牙艺术大师多姿多采的艺术,对新哥特式建筑进行某些修改工作,并给此1600平方米的建筑带来较好的声望。

挑战

1.单是新哥特式房屋的修复工作就是一桩令人望而生畏的任务。这座建筑物建于本世纪初,已经非常破旧。它原是一幢住宅,要把它改换成餐馆,就不得不把一些结构墙拆除以腾出开旷空间,而在另一些地方,又因必须增加特殊的装置和不得不改变原来的石墙。

2.酒吧被安置在屋内庭院内,上面要加盖,以便跟建筑物的其他部分起隔声作用。

设计方案

1.为保存石制墙面并显出其本色,墙面采用高压水喷射器予以清洗,以去除多年沉积下来的污染物。地面层的地板都被拆除,以便在结构上对基础进行加强,并安装了空调管道。

2.新木质地板给原来石制墙带来温馨的对比。天井里酒吧的入口和棚架广泛使用钢材作为材料,同时还补偿了被毁结构墙的拆除。这一些以及就餐用椅是在餐馆内能找到的仅有的现代特色。

3.能俯瞰酒吧的窗口都装上9毫米厚的Duovent玻璃,以控制声音的传播。

设计概念和美学

设计处理尊重原来的建筑,并以色彩和装饰性细部予以强化,其中包括tromp l'oeils和一幅向Dali表示敬意的15.38米壁画,以及有助于加强新哥特式感觉的巨镜和天鹅绒帷幕。此外还有Catalan旗帜、蛇行门把手和按照Gaudi在巴赛罗那的Casa Guell复制的锻铁龙,全都有助于创造出一种恰当的Dalisgue超现实氛围。在把这家餐馆改造成今天的这种触目的华丽的过程中,照明也是至关重要的手段,当然,有助于把色彩分布到整个场所中的舒适椅子也功不可没。

General Description

A refined restaurant in a national monument with a seating capacity of 240 and an exclusive bar for 350,located in the same building,and targeted at the 30-something age group.top wage earners,with a high level of education and culture.

Design Brief

1.To create a setting that will become a social landmark in Mexico City,in a site that is itself a national monument.

2.To embody the“Catalan"(Barcelona)spirit with accent on the colourful art of Spanish masters like Dali,Gaudi and Miro,carry out some restoration work on the NeoGothic structure and bring prestige to the 1,600 sqm establishment.

The Challenge

1.Restoration work alone on the Neo-Gothic house proved to be a daunting task.The building was erected at the beginning of the century and was in very run down condition.It was constructed for residential purposes.When transforming it into a restaurant,some of the structural walls had to be broken down to create open spaces while in other places,special installations had to be added without altering the original stone walls.

2.The bar area was sited in the patio which was roofed over and acoustically isolated from the rest of the building.

Design Solution

1.In order to retain the stone facade and bring out its origi-nal colour,the walls were cleaned using high pressure water jets,removing years of accumulated pollutants.Floors at ground level were removed to structurally reinforce the foundation(sinking had occurred,characteristic of structures in the city),and air-conditioning ducts were installed.

2.New wooden floors introduce a warm contrast to the existing stone walls.Steel is used extensively to create an entrance and shelter for the bar in the patio,as well as to compensate for the removal of demolished structural walls.These,and the dining chairs are the only contemporary features found in the restaurant.

3.Windows overlooking the bar were covered with 9mm Duovent glass to control sound transmission.

Design Concept & Aesthetics

The design approach respects the original architecture,and enhances it with colours and ornamental details,including tromp l'oeils and a 15.38 metres mural honouring Dali,gigantic mirrors and velvet draperies which help reinforce the Neo-Gothic feel.Catalan banners,snake door handles and a wrought iron dragon reproduction from Goudais Casa Guell in Barcelona,all help to create a fittingly Dalisque surreal atmosphere.Lighting is also crucial in transforming this restaurant into the visual extravaganza that it is,with comfortable chairs helping to distribute colour throughout the place.
