规则七：
在独立分句后使用冒号来引导一组事物、一个同位语、一个补充说明的内容或一条说明性的引语

冒号的出现可以告诉读者，接下来的内容与前面的分句有密切的关系。冒号的作用比逗号强，分隔作用比分号更弱，比破折号更正式。它通常跟在一个独立的从句后面，但是不能将动词跟它的补语或将介词和它的宾语分离。下面两组句子中，前面一个的例子是错误的，对应的正确形式为第二句。

例如：

Your dedicated whittler requires: a knife，a piece of wood，and a back porch.

你那忠诚的削切工需要：一把刀子、一截木头和一段后廊。

例如：

冒号还可以用来引导一个支持或证明前面分句的引语。
