S: Put the present there. You have to hurry, because Lucy’s coming.
Girls: Come on, hide with us. Come on, over here.
S: Hello, OK. Annie said Lucy’s coming up the stairs right now. So you have to assume the surprise position.

All:惊喜!
1. I bet she already knows.
I bet he’ll spend all his money in a few days because the money is burning a hole in his pocket.(我敢说,不出几天他就会把钱花光,因为他是个留不住钱的人。)
2. Why are you being a party pooper?
I’m sorry to be a party pooper, but I have to go home now.(很抱歉扫大家的兴,我现在必须得回家了。)
bounce v.
assume v.
rehearse v.
be supposed to(认为)应该,本应该
right now 马上,立刻
cooties n.
contagious a.
1. Annie was supposed to warn us.
supposed to中supposed的[t]不发音,to的[t]发音。
2. Don’t touch me. I’ve got cooties! It’s contagious!
L = Lucy(露西)
T = Turner(特纳)
R = Rita(丽塔)
J = Judge(法官)
S = Sam(山姆)
T: I heard you turned seven this year. That’s pretty exciting.
L: Everybody gets older. It’s not that big a deal. ①
T: What’d you get for your birthday?
L: I haven’t opened my presents yet.
T: Really? That’s odd . Why?
L: Actually, I opened my presents. I got the“Help” album, limited edition .
T: I’m sorry. I’m… I’m…I’m very confused. I thought you didn’t open your presents because you ran away from your own party, because your best friend told everyone that you said you were adopted.
L: I never said that. Why would I say that?
T: Why would your friend say that if you haven’t said that?
L: Kids lie all the time.
T: Lucy, remember you’re under oath. ②
L: I know.
T: And you know what that means?
L: I do.
T: All right, now that we have all agreed to tell the truth, where were you sleeping last night?
L: In my bed at the foster home.
T: If you’re not going to tell the truth, I am. Your dad kidnapped you last night.
R: Objection. Kidnapped?
J: Sustained.
S: Hey, young lady, you have to tell the truth.
T: You’re lying because you’re afraid.
R: Objection. He’s putting words in her mouth.
J: Sustained. Please limit yourself to questions, Mr. Turner.
S: You have to tell the truth.
T: Lucy, are you afraid to tell the truth because you’ll hurt your Daddy’s feelings?
S: Daddy’s right here. You can tell the truth.
T: Isn’t it true that very deep down inside, very deep inside, you know you need much more than your daddy can give you?
L: All you need is love.
1. Everybody gets older. It’s not that big a deal.
It’s not that big a deal表示“不是大事,没什么大不了的”,还可以说It’s not a big deal或It’s no big deal。 It’s not that big a deal,表达心中的抵触情绪。
2. Lucy, remember you’re under oath.
The judge reminded the witness that he was still under oath.(法官提醒证人,他已发誓要说实话)。 sustained(反对有效),法官常说。
odd a.
kidnap v.
I never said that. Why would I say that?
Why would I say that?
R = Rita(丽塔)
S = Sam(山姆)
S: You don’t know what it’s like when you try and you try and you try and you don’t ever get there! Because…because you were born perfect, and I was born like this! And you’re perfect!
R: Is that right?
S: People like you don’t know.
R: People like me?
S: People like you don’t know what it’s like to get hurted because you don’t have feelings. You don’t, People like you don’t feel anything.
R: You think you got the market cornered on human suffering? ① Let me tell you something about people like me. People like me feel lost and little and ugly and dispensable . People like me have husbands screwing someone else far more perfect than me. People like me have sons who hate them. ② And I’ve screamed, screamed horrible things to him, a seven-year-old, because he doesn’t want to get in the car at the end of the day. And then he looks at me with such anger and I hate him then. “I know I’m failing you. I know I’m disappointing you. I know you deserve better, but get in the fucking car!” Every morning, I wake up and I fail. And I look around, and everybody seems to be pull ing it off but somehow I can’t no matter how hard I try. Somehow... I’ll never be enough.
S: You’re enough. Yeah, you’re much more than enough. Lovely Rita.
1. You think you got the market cornered on human suffering?
句中的get the market cornered相当于corner the market。 You think you got the market cornered on human suffering质问山姆,可译为“难道世上受苦的就你一个人吗?”
2. People like me feel lost and little and ugly and dispensable. People like me have husbands screwing someone else far more perfect than me. People like me have sons who hate them.
I know I’m failing you. I know I’m disappointing you. I know you deserve better, but...,三个以I know开头的句子也构成了排比句。
dispensable a.
deserve v.
1. People like you don’t know.
don’t know中,don’t的[t]只轻微发音,然后再发know的[n]。
2. People like me feel lost and little and ugly and dispensable…People like me have sons who hate them.
3. And I’ve screamed, screamed horrible things to him, ... to get in the car at the end of the day.
him弱读为[im]。
片中有十几首由当代歌星翻唱的披头士歌曲,如 Blackbird 《黑鸟》; Across the Universe 《穿越苍穹》; I ’ m Looking Through You 《我看透你》; You ’ ve Got to Hide Your Love Away 《你要隐藏你的爱》; Golden Slumbers 《金色梦乡》; Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds 《钻石天空下的露西》及 Julia 《茱莉亚》等,这些歌曲与电影情节相得益彰。
