值得注意的是，在考研写作中，这已经是第三次考到关于希望工程的话题。1995年考研写作的主题是希望工程；2001年的考题是关于爱心，第二段举例论证，可以用希望工程作为献爱心的典型事例。因此，2006年应用文的主题对于考生来说并不陌生，只不过是用信函的方式来考查。公务信函的关键是“specify”（具体说明），考生要合理联想，举一反三，提供合情合理的原因或细节。

自2005年开考小作文以来，2008年第四次考查了书信这一文体，这再次印证了考研小作文的重点还是书信作文，而备忘录、报告、告示只需简单准备即可。2005年考查辞职信+道歉信，2006年考查请求信，2007年考查建议信。2008年则综合2005年与2007年两年的考题，考查道歉信+建议信。
考研小作文有两种出题方式可使题目变难：逆向出题和两种体裁相结合。继2005年之后，2008年再次使用了这两种出题方式：将寻找失物信逆向出题，变成道歉信；再结合建议信，考查考研真题中已经考过的两种书信体裁。这再次提醒考生真题是考研的根本，写作也不例外。只要充分重视真题，必将受益匪浅。
需要注意的是，2008年考查的是私人书信，不同于前三年的公务书信，文中可适当使用缩写（3~5词）、省略句或口语表达。同时，根据2008年教育部最新大纲，考研小作文无须书写日期，最好使用缩进式，即段间不空行，每段首行缩进4~5个字母。称呼需要顶头写，由于题目中出现了人名，写成“Dear +人名”即可。
正文中务必客气，礼多人不怪。表示感谢的句型不可或缺，即感谢房东对你的热情款待。同时表示道歉和提出解决办法，两点提纲务必写到。落款写在稿纸中间偏右的位置，“Yours sincerely,”或“Sincerely yours,”均可，注意大小写和逗号。署名要写Li Ming，不能出现自己的真实姓名。

建议信是国内考试最喜欢考查的书信类型，2001年6月与2004年1月，四级写作曾两次考查建议信；而2007、2008、2009年考研写作则连续三年考查建议信。2011年命题再次提醒众多考生：考研英语（二）写作复习的重中之重仍是考研写作历年真题！
两种书信结合的形式在考研写作命题历史上曾出现过两次：分别是2005年的辞职+道歉信，以及2008年的道歉+建议信。如此命题的目的之一是反押题。

遗憾的是，无数同学在考场上过于紧张或追求速度，审题不清，将本题写成了书信，造成了格式错误，颇为可惜。提醒广大考生：考场上务必认真审题，小作文包含书信、告示、备忘录、报告各种题型，切勿写错。
本题首先第一行正中央需写标题：Notice即可，注意首字母大写，之后不写句号。日期写在标题右下方，书写顺序为月日年，年份后切勿写句号。正文写一至三段，以现在时和将来时为主。告示的落款可以是个人或单位，写在正文下方中间偏后的位置，与日期基本对齐。
