A Person of the middle age is at the prime.
Seizing the opprtunity and working hard unswervingly, one may
have his early dreams and youthful ambitions come true.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, when I was the Secretary of the Party Branch of Hengdian Brigade, I ran hardware factories, farm tools factories, grain processing factories and other small factories.Strictly speaking, however, they were just small workshops, on small scales, not real factories.It was not that I didn’t want to run a big factory, but that the policy didn’t allow us to run a big factory at that time.
At the end of 1974, the Party Committee of the Hengdian Commune asked me to take the lead in setting up a silk mill.At first I did not want to accept this task, the Hengdian Brigade I was in charge of, was about to take a big step in development, and many plans have been made.The members and people of the brigade were also reluctant to let me leave the brigade, for fear that the production and income distribution of the brigade will be greatly affected after I left.
The Party Secretary of the Commune had a lot of talks with me, asking me to “look after the overall situation,” and convincing me this is “the trust of the Party,” and “the brigade will be better when the commune is better.” Of course, I could not deny what he said.But that was not the reason why I changed my mind.
It dawned on me that after more than 20 years of working, I had accomplished nothing, going from a state cadre of stable salary to a farmer earning work points.Before I knew it, I was in my 40s.Half of my life had passed.Maybe this was my last chance.Why not take advantage of this opportunity?
To take another perspective, people in their middle age were at the prime.It was the right age, mature age to make something.Seizing this opportunity and working hard on it may help to realize my dream.I made a decision to take the opportunity and accept the challenge.Meanwhile, I am ready for the hardship.My middle age is spent in work!
