16.The two factions were fighting fiercely, but I survived

Under the call of “the rebellion is justified” and “all evil spirits are swept away”, rebel organizations were set up all over the country, from schools to institutions, from factories to the countryside, under the names of the “Combat team”, “Rebel regiment”, or “Headquarters”.They began to point the finger at the so-called “capitalists” and to seize the leaders of their own units in the region.Later, various rebel groups evolved into opposing factions, each claiming to be loyal to the revolutionary line of Mao Zedong, defending the Party Central Committee and defending Mao Zedong, they attacked the “royalists” who carried out the revisionism line and opposed the party and socialism.

At this time, the party organizations had long been “kicked away”, the party and government organizations paralyzed, the public prosecutor and the judicial department smashed, from the province to the county. The formation of the two major factions, fought from higher organization to the bottom. In order to fight for the leadership, the two factions had become increasingly fierce, from publicity posters, the great debate, to physical attacks on each other with stones and sticks, and even escalating to bloody knife fights.

They had a good fight.I survived.I thought there must be sources of income.I decided to make some money.I thought of an old friend of mine, Chen Yimin, who had learned how to make lead stove ash from Yongkang.I made an appointment with Chen Yimin, who was happy to leave Hengdian and went into business with me.

We went to Jinhua first and found a somewhat large printing plant. At that time, printing houses used old materials, which needed to be re-melted and cast when it was worn.In the melting process, the lead slag accumulated, which was often discarded by the printing house. We bought their waste, purified it, and resold it back to the printing house. We made over 1,000 yuan in a few days at this printing plant in Jinhua. We were very happy to make so much money at our first stop.We decided to go north, but there were no lead plants in Lanxi, or Xin’anjiang, or Chun’an counties.Later, we went to a county at the foot of Yellow Mountain, probably Tunxi now, then to Tongling, Chizhou, Huainan and Huaibei. On the way, we made over 2,500 yuan .We only kept a little of the money with us and sent most of it back home.

Then we wandered around to Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province. We found several printing houses, and they had a lot of waste lead residue.Together they could probably account for over 10,000 yuan .We were so happy. We searched and searched, but we couldn’t find the charcoal. You can’t process waste lead without charcoal.Plus it had been a while since we’d been home, so we decided to head back.Later, my father and Chen Yimin did business together in Hefei.

However, we decided to go home only to find that we didn’t have enough money to pay for train tickets. We had to sneak onboard. When we were caught, we lied and said we had gotten on at the last stop and paid one yuan for our tickets.Doing this, we finally arrived at Xiaguan, and then took the ferry to Nanjing.

From Nanjing to Hangzhou, we two calculated whether to take the train or a bus, and finally decided to take a bus. After paying for the tickets, we only had a few cents left.We bought some steamed baozi for the trip.“Don’t worry,” Chen said.“My Brother lives in Hangzhou.Once we get there, things will be easy.”

When we got to Hangzhou, we found a free ride to go to Chen’s brother’s home.He was very cold to us.He didn’t ask if we had had a meal, nor even offer a cup of tea.He said “Now it’s so chaotic out there. Why do you travel around?” I was offended by his attitude, and took Chen to leave.“Let’s Go! We’re not begging here!”

I took Chen to my friend’s house in Hangzhou. My friend was very warm, offering tea and cigarettes. At my friend’s house, we each ate two big bowls of rice, vegetables, tofu, hairtail and so on.Perhaps it was because we had been hungry for so long that we were particularly impressed by this meal. Before I left, I asked my friend to lend me 10 yuan , but he gave me 15 yuan instead. With this money, we finally got home from Hangzhou. jFpI1x/zZxrgESqIlVyvoZ1qxbvwLCdZiz7oMyYZQmHq4fTqdzYHDtaClvWodr1M
