A dog was lying on the hays in a manger. The hays were for the cattle. When the cattle came to eat, the dog growled at the cattle and wouldn’t let them eat. “What a selfish beast,” said one of them to his friend. “He can’t eat the hays himself, and he won’t let the cattle eat them.”
