As the concept of Taiji health has spread at home and abroad in recent years, people pay more attention to the traditional Taiji philosophy and Taiji culture due to their guidance on health, as well as various Taiji health techniques such as qigong, Daoyin, Taijiquan, health preservation, etc. Rooted in the traditional Chinese philosophy, traditional Chinese medicine and health preservation, traditional and classical Chinese health cultivation exercises have given full play to the advantages of active exercise and mind-body improvement, and have attracted increasing attention across the world.
Since 2016, Taiji health organizations have sprung up in China,Greece, Spain, France, Japan and other places to spread Taiji health concepts and techniques. However, there are few books related to Taiji health in domestic and overseas markets, especially popular science book series. There are even fewer bilingual Chinese-English versions of these books.
Based on their previous studies and the positive feedback of the first series, research staff at the Taiji Health Center of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) and Shanghai Qigong Research Institute compiled five traditional and classical Chinese health cultivation exercise methods as the second series. These books cover the history, theoretical foundation, characteristics and key principles, illustrated movements and application of the five exercises. Then these contents have been translated by professional translators at SHUTCM. The Chinese version was reviewed by an expert team, while the English version was reviewed by Dr. Charles Savona Ventura, the director for the Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of Malta.
In addition to illustrations and videos, QR codes are also available for readers, which is convenient especially for overseas Taiji health fans to learn.
