1. What do you do in the office every day?

★ To me, the worst part of my job is that I often have to work overtime. There are so many things to deal with that I have to work after the regular hours. My wife and daughter have started to complain a lot about that.

★ I guess it’s mainly because of the job flexibility and my passion for journalism. I plan to make the inn a home business, with low startup costs and just a few people taking care of receiving customers, cooking and house-keeping. I think that my younger sister could help me with reception work since she is quite polite and good at communication, and my mother-in-law could be in charge of cooking because she’s very good at it.

As an animal lover, I’m thinking of making this pet-care centre a non-profit organisation. Honestly, I have no idea how to go about this kind of business. But common sense tells me that I would need a good plan and financial support to make it work. I think I would contact some local non-profit organisations and talk with them to see if they can help me in any way.
There will be pet food, toys and some basic animal-care facilities. I will also hire veterinarians in case some pets fall ill. Moreover, I’m planning to hire some volunteer animal lovers to help with the daily care of pets in the centre.
I love animals so much. They are cute, and some of them are even very loyal. I have some friends who are animal lovers too. ★ There are several important factors to consider when it comes to choosing a job or a career, such as salary, work hours, transport, benefits. However, in my opinion, the most important factor is the prospect for future development of the field. That is to say, if I’m doing a job with a promising future, I would be very enthusiastic and passionate about what I’m doing.
★ I think interest is the most important factor when choosing a job. For me, I can not do anything well if I’m not interested in it, so my job has to be something I love to do. After all, I have to spend at least 8 hours a day on it. How can I do it patiently and passionately if I don’t want to do it at all?
2. Do you think it’s good to change your job frequently?
★ I don’t think it’s good. Jumping from job to job frequently demonstrates a lack of loyalty. If I were a boss, I would not hire frequent “job jumpers”, because for one thing I don’t want to hire untrustworthy employees; for another thing, it costs time and resources to hire and train new employees, which I can’t afford either.
★ I think it’s a good thing. In modern society, a person has to know more professional skills in order to meet the changing and challenging requirements of the job market. Every time you try a new job, you can learn new skills which can be adapted to new working mechanism. This will make you more adaptable and competitive.
3. Do you think that salary is related to the importance of the job?
★ I think so. Nowadays, the working mechanism of the modern job market is that a person will get what he or she deserves. The more important job you do, the higher salary you would deserve. That’s fair and square.
★ This is true in most areas. However, there are several exceptions. The most typical example is the huge amount of salary some superstars of sports and entertainment earn each year. Do they deserve such a high salary? I definitely don’t think so. To me, only people who have made great contribution to the development and progress of the whole society, such as scientists and inventors, deserve such a high salary.
4. Why do so many people want to open their own business?
★ I think one of the main reasons is that they want to do something on their own to demonstrate to others that they are capable. Another important reason is that they are seeking for a sense of fulfillment in their career. Of course, making money is also a main reason for some people.
★ Maybe they just want to be their own boss and don’t want others to tell them what they should do and what they can not do. When you are your own boss, your time and energy are totally under your own control. You can choose whatever way you like to get the job done. Of course, all the money and profits are also yours.
5. What do you think is the most important quality that people should possess in order to run a successful business?
★ The first and foremost quality is perseverance. I remember a saying goes like this: perseverance is the only way to success. When you are running a business, you’ll come across a lot of troubles and difficulties. Only by perseverance can you be able to bear difficulties calmly without complaints; only by perseverance can you have the courage and belief to try again and again until you finally succeed.
★ I think a person must be open-minded in order to run a successful business. An open-minded person is able to use his or her wisdom to consider all aspects of a situation; an open-minded person can embrace new ideas and arguments and are not prejudiced at all; and an open-minded person can try their best to weigh up all possibilities and options before making a decision.
6. What is the most difficult job that people do?
★I think jobs can be hard for various reasons. Some professions, such as chemists or surgeons, are difficult in the sense that they require a high level of skill that must be developed through many years of study and practice. On the other hand, jobs like police officers, firefighters or soldiers might not require such high skill levels, but they are known to be extremely stressful and sometimes dangerous.
★The most difficult jobs are not necessarily the most challenging professions. As I see it, if a job offers challenge and reward in equal measure, people can get satisfaction, both financially and psychologically from it. In contrast, some people have to work long hours without overtime pay, and some people have to repeat the same movements numerous times on a daily basis. In short, the job would be extremely difficult if it fails to offer people a sense of satisfaction.
