小作文指的是雅思写作部分的Task 1（一般为图表或流程图描述），也有四项评分标准：
Task Response （任务回答）
Coherence and Cohesion （连贯与衔接）
Lexical Resource （词汇量）
Grammatical Range and Accuracy （语法的多样性和准确度）
Task Response（任务回答）要求考生在20分钟内完成一篇至少150个单词的作文，在这个基础上，考生还应在规定的时间和字数内，向读者（即考官）清晰地阐述何事、何人、何时、何地以及图表的总体趋势（是升？降？持平？还是波动？以及幅度等相关信息），并以数据的形式逐步展开，不能带有个人的主观观点，文章要求布局合理，思路清晰，详略搭配准确，结论明确。其他三项标准与大作文基本一样。
只要考生们认真审题，精心布局，条理清晰，篇末点题，就能获得理想的作文分数。
