It is true that a lot of children, from below 3 to high school, would like to spend time watching a range of TV programs and videos. One of the most obvious reasons for this is that these are so attractive, vivid and touching that the children who are curious cannot resist their temptation at all.
Some people, especially the parents, argue that this is very damaging. They probably begin by pointing out that their children who are limited in self-control and self-discipline will easily take too much time in watching instead of getting back to study after a short while. In addition to this, some videos are packed with inappropriate scenes such as violence, crime, drug use and obscenity. When children who are still simple watch too much TV shows and videos without any correct guidance, some of them will easily break the laws in the realistic world by imitating the details of crimes.
However, others who disbelieve watching TV or video is bad claim that TV programs and videos can fully help children understand outside world or relax their stressful brains after intense study. Obviously, those who often watch TV have a wider range of knowledge and better understandings of our society than those who do not. All of these are beneficial to children’s growth and their future social life.
Overall, I would like to say that watching TV or videos are necessary for children who need knowledge and information, but the point is that parents must ensure that their children do not watch too much or too long, and at the same time the government should give a harsh warning to media with overuse of unhealthy contents.

At present, there are two kinds of the most popular schools available for the school children. One is the boarding school, where children can not only study general knowledge but also have a chance to live independently; the other is the day school where students need to take classes alone. After school, they will return their home staying with their parents.
Some people who hold the statement that children should go to boarding schools believe that dormitory living can help children grow up in many ways. It might be widely acknowledged that today’s children are short of independence and self-discipline, which are recognized as important qualities a successful person deserves to have. By letting their children live with their friends, the parents offer them the opportunity to develop these qualities as early as possible. Obviously, to send children to study in a boarding school is a more effective way of equipping them with the independence they need to succeed when they leave the education system altogether and go out to work.
On the other hand, others argue that children should go to day school and stay with their parents. It is mainly due to the fact that they can have a chance to be accompanied by their parents, consulting them about things they do not understand very clearly. Even though some day they must cope with difficulties on their own, it’s safer to protect them at a tender age from being exposed to some dominant yet unhealthy values in society.
Overall, my view is that children should be encouraged to learn how to live independently, because it is not only beneficial for their growth, but also offers them a good environment to meet more people. Boarding school is a better choice because it is the safest way to raise a child who can think for themselves and make their own judgement.
