On basis of the comprehensive survey and elaborate analysis to the climate,soil, vegetation and plant utilization of south China coastal zones, totally 166 representative indigenous plants were selected and proposed to be tool species for restoring the vegetation of coastal hills, mountain slopes, estuaries and intertidal zone. The morphology of each plant was briefly described and well imaged. In addition, the distribution, biological characteristics, propagation methods, and disease and insect prevention and control methods of the selected species were introduced so as to understand their adaptive ability and application feasibility.
The book is an outcome of the combination of plant taxonomy and restoration ecology and has important theoretical value for guiding the practice. It can be a significant reference for the academic researchers, governmental administrators,teaching or training lecturers and practical workers in the field of ecological restoration, mountain or rocky slope greening, dam protection, wetland conservation and landscape design and construction along south China coastal zones.
