Section III Writing

The two pictures show a sharp change in the world commercial fishing. They display totally different scenes. There were a lot of fish with one fishing boat in the sea in 1900 while the situation was just the opposite in 1995. We can see that within about 100 years, humans have stripped the sea of her generous offerings, and the fish supplies have almost been exhausted by overfishing.

The drawer is warning us that if we don’t put an end to the trend, then the fish in the ocean could become extinct in the near future. Our fishery resources are limited and our ecosystem needs careful protection. If we only care about the present, we will suffer in the future.

Measures should be taken to improve this situation. First, the governments of various countries in the world should make laws and regulations to guide and supervise people’s fishing activity, punishing those who bring harm to the environment. Second, we should enhance the awareness of the public that the fishery resources are very precious to us. We should think seriously about this for the greater good over the long term.
