Annotating Passages

由于SSAT阅读考试时间紧迫,如何提高阅读效率成了我们最关心的问题之一。一边读文章一边做笔记是最有效的SSAT阅读方法。简单而言,就是当我们阅读文章的同时用笔记录或划出文章的重点。

有用的阅读笔记可以帮助我们在做题时直接找到考查的重点,不用重复阅读文章。当然,做阅读笔记是有要求的,不是记录下每一个单词或划出所有内容,而只需要记录下或划出重要信息的关键词或短语即可。

策略与技巧:如何做笔记

以下步骤有助于提升做笔记的效率:

1.确定文章的种类:是说明文(informative)、议论文(persuasive)还是记叙文(narrative)。我们可以在文章开始前的空白处用一个单词标示出文章的种类。

2.确定每个段落的主旨大意:除特殊情况外(全篇文章只有一个段落并包含若干个主旨),一般一个段落只有一个主旨及若干支持性的细节。我们需要将主旨大意中的关键词写在段落旁,切勿写下一整句话。

3.划出关键词:表明段落主旨的词、引出新观点的词、人名地点和时间、作者下的定义等都是需要标明的关键词。我们需要一边阅读一边划出相关的词或词组。

4.标注过渡词:过渡词可以表因果、转折、对比、举例等,类似however、but、although、for example、unfortunately等过渡词会提示重要信息。我们需要圈出这些单词以便更好地理解段落结构。

5.确定文章的主旨及写作目的:文章主旨是对于每个段落主旨的提炼,写作目的是作者写文章想告诉别人什么且带有主观情绪。我们可以在文章结束后的空白处写下主旨及目的,切勿写下一整句话。

当然,我们不能为了做笔记而做笔记,最后导致文章的旁边都是单词短语或者几乎整篇文章都被划了下划线。做笔记只是帮助我们能够在做题时迅速找到答案的出处。此外,如果我们遇到主旨题,那么就可以根据阅读笔记来选择正确答案。完成主旨题之后,我们可以再按照顺序来完成其他细节题。

当我们做题遇到瓶颈时也可以用做笔记的方法。操作过程很简单,只需要划出题干以及选项中的关键词再做比对即可。题干中的关键词用于确定题型和题目涉及的范围,而选项中的关键词用于和原文内容进行对比。这些关键词可以是核心的名词,也可以是有态度的形容词或者动词等。

在完成关键词的挑选之后,我们需要对选项的正确性进行判定,可以首先在明显有错的选项旁打“?”,然后再对其他选项进行判定。这种一一排除的方法可以减少错误选项的干扰,从而更快地选出正确答案。

阅读考试中还有不少题目会给出题目的出处(题目出现在文章第几行),例如与词汇、短语或句子相关的细节题。做这类题目时我们需要在原文圈出题干中涉及到的词或词组,这样有助于快速理解原文并找到答案。

专项训练

仅仅只是学习了做阅读笔记的步骤和技巧是远远不够的,关键还是在于多练习。要能够迅速判断一篇文章的种类、总结段落主旨并不是一件简单的事情,需要很多前期训练。关于文章的种类,我们会在之后的篇章着重介绍,到时候大家会有更清晰的认识。
