Unit 3

Giving and Asking for Directions

When foreigners ask for directions, police officers must be especially patient and considerate and do their utmost to give correct and clear instructions. It is better to use traffic lights or signs and outstanding buildings as references when they show the way to consulters. If the place asked about is too far away it will be very helpful to tell them how to take a bus, taxi, or subway and when to make a change if needed.

If you ask the way in a foreign country, please don't forget to say "Hello" or "Hi" or "Excuse me" before and "Thanks" after it.

The words, expressions and sentence patterns below are often used to show and ask for directions. It is important and necessary for Chinese officers to get familiar with them.

3OHu8M37/BwLH6vyUEFZFazzDPipH/1w76BpshSPnBliyzmsJhesD4cyouPZ67QG
