Learning a language is not easy, especially a second or third one. I have had a bad 1 with learning languages, starting from my 2 one: English. My second one was Russian, which 3 like an alien (外星的) language to me.

My wife’s family is from Saint Petersburg, so 4 they spoke Russian. The first 5 I had when studying Russian was that it sounded like an alien language to me. Even saying “hello” sounded 6 and long. After five years of this, I could 15 with others for long periods of time in Russian and 16 about 80% of what people were saying around me. Like English, it took lots of hours to become 17 in Russian. There was no trick or a(n) 18 way to become good at it.
