34. 脱厌如释重 带恋如担枷
34. Out of poverty, the poor die content; burdened with wealth, the rich remain in fetters all their life.

贫贱之人，一无所有，及临命终时，脱一厌字；富贵之人，无所不有，及临命终时，带一恋字。脱一厌字，如释重负；带一恋字，如担枷锁。

穷人一无所有，临当寿终时，他们挣脱的是对贫穷的厌恶；富人无所不有，临当寿终时，他们却还对自己的财产恋恋不舍。挣脱贫穷使穷人如释重负；对财产的恋恋不舍使富人到死都还像枷锁缠身一样。

【English Translation】

Poor people have nothing to their names; but when lying on death bed, they congratulate themselves on being able to shake off poverty. Rich people have everything they desire; but when at the end of their lives, they still cannot lay down the burden of wealth. Thanks to being free from poverty, the poor die content.
