10. He who is disgusted at the talk about fame and wealth has not necessarily banished the desire for fame and wealth.

谭山林之乐 ^① 者，未必真得山林之趣；厌 ^② 名利之谭者，未必尽忘名利之情 ^③ 。

【中文注释】

① 山林之乐：指隐居山林的乐趣，与后面的“山林之趣”同义。

② 厌：厌恶；不屑。

③ 名利之情：追逐名利的欲望。

【今文解译】

动辄谈论山林之乐的人，未必真的知道山林之乐的妙趣。口口声声说厌恶名利的人，未必都已经抛却了名利之心。

【English Translation】

It does not necessarily follow that he who is fond of talking about the delight in living amid the mountains and forest really understands the bliss of such a life. Neither does it so that he who declares himself to be disgusted at the talk about fame and wealth has completely banished from his mind the desire for fame and wealth.
