Understanding the features of good arguments is helpful for writing arguments.Analyzing arguments also helps with writing arguments because good argument writers are first good argument readers.Analyzing arguments means analyzing the elements of arguments.As mentioned before, arguments may vary in the degree of their attention to audience and to truth, but classical arguments, which stand on the mid-point of the continuum, are very typical of arguments in terms of features, elements, and structure.Thus, this chapter will use the classical argument as an example to make a general introduction to major elements of arguments, including purpose, kairos , audience,claim, and rhetorical appeals.
