What animals were there in the zoo? There were monkeys, tigers and elephants. One of the elephants was very big. That elephant is nine years old. There were a lot of snakes and other animals, too.

Some of the snakes were big, and some of them were small. There were a lot of birds, too. There were white birds, black birds and green birds. Some birds were black and white. Some birds were red, black and green and other birds were many other colors.
那里有大蛇，有小蛇。那里还有很多鸟，有白色的鸟、黑色的鸟和绿色的鸟。有些鸟黑白相间，有些鸟是红色、黑色或绿色，还有鸟是很多别的颜色。
The teacher wants the children to finish their writing. After the children finish their writing, the teacher will look at their books. She will look to see if their writing is correct, or not.

If Pat’s writing is correct, Pat can read it to the other children in the class. After that, at four o’clock, she will go home. She will go home and tell Mommy about all the things in the zoo.

There were monkeys, tigers, elephants, birds, snakes and a lot of other animals, too.
Mommy
Snakes? Tell me about the snakes. Were they big?
Pat
Some of them were big. Some of them were very big. Some of the other snakes were small. A lot of the snakes were green, and one snake was black, red, green and white.
Mommy
I don’t like snakes. What about you, Pat? Do you like snakes?
Pat
Not very much. But Lee does. Lee says he’s going to ask Daddy to get him a big snake. He says he wants to look after it in his room.
Mommy
What? Oh, no! Where is Lee now? Is he in the house?
Pat
No, he isn’t. He’s outside in the garden. He’s in the garden playing with Tom.
Mommy
Well, please go and tell him to come into the house. I want to speak to him.
Pat
What do you want to speak to him about?
Mommy
I want to tell him not to ask Daddy to get him a snake! I want to tell him that he can’t have a snake. I don’t like snakes, and I will not have one in the house! Now, go and tell Lee to come in here. Go on! Go on, now!

佩特
