Long long ago, the mice once had a meeting. It was about how to fight their greatest enemy , the cat. They came up with many plans, but none of them were good enough. At last a young mouse stood up.
“We all know the cat moves very quietly,” he said, “so most of the time it's difficult for us to know where she is. I suggest that we can tie a bell around her neck. Whenever we hear the bell ring, we will know that our enemy is coming, and have enough time to run away.”
“Such a good plan! How could we never think of this before?”cried all the mice. The meeting was filled with joy.
Just then an old mouse spoke.
“Wait a minute,” he said to the crowd. “I must say this is a brilliant idea, but I only have one question. Who is going to tie the bell around the cat's neck?”
The mice fell silent. They looked at each other and couldn't say a word.
