Well, I’m never a big fan of papers, so I’d like to be graded by my performance during class discussions. Cause you have many opportunities to present your thoughts to your classmates, the audience, you get to practice/hone your speech skill which is very important in students’future careers where they will often need to pitch their ideas to co-workers or clients. That’s a key to career success. And, frankly, if discussions do not count toward the final score, I’m afraid some students will simply skip the discussions, won’t take them seriously. They’d think writing papers is enough for the course. I think the teachers would be really frustrated.
