I agree and I think it’s a good idea that calculators are not allowed in class or in exams. The point of having math class is that students learn how to add, divide, multiply and subtract. It lays the foundation for other more complicated subjects, like chemistry and physics. The bad thing about calculators is that they only give you a result, not the steps that are involved in the calculation. And the steps are precisely what teachers want students to learn, so calculators completely defeat the purpose of teaching math to students and it’s essentially cheating when calculators are used in exams.
