One benefit is that, whenever you bring in people from different backgrounds, you will receive a wide range of opinions that can help you reach a better overall decision. People who come from unique situations will always have more different ideas than a group of individuals who all have a similar life story. Something negative about group decision making is that it takes more time for team members to reach an agreement when compared to a leader who can make a decision for everyone. Every member of the team adds some time to the decision making process. The more members you have, the longer time it takes.
