当你乘坐的飞机是直飞航班时，飞机会在中途降落，暂时停留以补充燃料、更换机组人员，而飞机上的乘客也必须一起在当地短暂停留，这样的情况叫做“过境”。你不必换机，也不用再办理登机手续，你将会有一些时间在当地机场喝杯咖啡、稍作休息，等听到广播再上飞机！而如果你乘坐的是直达航班，那飞机就不会在途中作任何停留，而是直接飞往目的地。
