①People often say, “It is unwise to jump to conclusions upon seeing, hearing, or touching.” ② Ironically, it is easier said than done. ③As is vividly shown in the eye-catching cartoon, behind the elephant stands a so-called “blind” man, holding the elephant’s tail, with an imagination of touching a snake. ④Not only informative is the implication, but instructive as well.

①As we all know, the truth consists of all the facts. ②Seeing or hearing something can only get part of the fact, not the whole, which will block our way to the truth. ③Instead, what we need to do is to get fully involved in it. Our human history has been filled with a variety of examples of unreasonable conclusions based on partial facts, with the following one being the most famous . ⑤There is a story saying that in ancient China, several blind men went to touch a large elephant. ⑥One guy touched the nose of it, and then he assumed the elephant looked like a big nose. ⑦Everyone else did the same thing to get their “own” conclusion. ⑧ As a matter of fact , although they cannot see the elephant, it was still possible for them to know the exact features of the elephant if one guy listened to each fact other people gave. ⑨Unfortunately, the partial fact only leads to the wrong conclusion.

Just as an old proverb goes, “Think twice before you leap.” ②It also means that only by weighing all the pros and cons of one thing can we achieve rational and reasonable conclusion. ③With comprehensive analysis after seeing, touching and experiencing every aspect, it is possible for us to avoid the subjective judgment and believe conclusions we draw.
