1.5 Aim and Objectives

The aim of this research is to develop an approach to model and analyse information based on activities in IIOs from the organisational morphology perspective, together with the methodology for measuring IIOs’ performance.

This approach can be applied to model organisations for the purpose of analysing the outcomes of information-based activities, and assess the organisations’ performance. The methodology, represented as a framework, is then applied and empirically tested for marketing activities in a Chinese university. Through implementing the framework, marketing and recruiting performance of an education institution is measured.

The objectives are as follows.

(1) To investigate the features of information intensive organisations and propose challenges they are facing;

(2) To review existing approaches for modelling IIOs and the methods for measuring their performance, to discover the gap between research problem and current approaches;

(3) To explore appropriate research methods;

(4) To develop a multi-level framework for assessing business performance in IIOs;

(5) To apply the framework in practical use;

(6) To build an evaluation model to test the validity of results by using the framework;

(7) To demonstrate the application of the framework by a different case study and test the validity of the result repetitively;

(8) To evaluate the research and identify limitation for future work. Eg3KINaYEbQjBWp+Kvxx/KfeynDRs4qonXaTjzOORUdIPM/UlTk/w+W2lkb6VtJy
