The metallic conductor imbedded in earth and in intimate contact with the earth is referred to as earth electrode.The objects concurrently serving as earth electrodes in intimate contact with the earth，such as various metallic members，metallic well casings，the foundations of reinforced concrete buildings（structures），metallic pipes，and equipment，are referred to as natural earth electrodes.
