Secondly, medicinals with the function of quickening the blood and dispelling stasis with the concurrent effect of clearing heat and cooling the blood are recommended, such as chì sháo (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), dān pí (Cortex Moutan), zĭ căo (Radix Arnebiae), etc. As the pathogenesis of static blood in the syndromes of the ying and blood aspect are caused by heat or stasis and heat binding together; heat intensifies when associated with stasis, and stasis becomes firmer due to the flaming of the heat, cold medicinals with the clearing heat effect are often chosen in the combination of medicinals for quickening the blood and dispelling stasis in formulas for clearing the ying and cooling the blood.
