6.2.1 The minimum fire protection distances between the surface facilities of the water-sealed cavern storage shall comply with Table 6.2.1.

Notes:1 For the oil pump house，the fire protection distance is considered to start from the building's external wall；for the open-air pump or pump shed，the fire protection distance is considered to start from the pump；
2 The flare may be one that carries an flammable liquid.For other flares，the fire protection distances from buildings and structures outside the oil storage shall be determined through the calculation of combustion-induced radiant heat.
3 Enclosing wall refers to a wall around the surface facility of the water-sealed cavern storage；
4 Starting and end points of fire protection distances are as shown in Appendix A.
5 The minimum fire protection distances of its surface facilities that are not listed in the table shall comply with relevant requirements specified in the currently effective national standard

6.2.2 Permanent signs shall be set up at building boundaries of the water-sealed cavern storage.
6.2.3 At the external boundaries of the water-sealed cavern storage，at least 2.5m-high incombustible solid walls shall be set up.The cavern storage should be provided with two entrances to external highways.The administration area should be provided with an enclosing wall or fence so as to be separated from the other areas，as well as an independent entrance/exit.
6.2.4 The roads within the cavern storage area shall comply with the requirements:
1 The main roads in the water-sealed cavern storage area should be suburban ones with the width being at least 7m.
2 The roads in the surface oil tank farm shall comply with the relevant requirements specified in the standard Code for Design of Oil Depot （GB 50074）.
3 Roads shall be set up on the ground between shaft operation areas；the widths of the roads shall be at least 7m，their turning radii shall be at least 12m，and they shall be connected with other roads.If restricted by the topography，it may be set up a dead-end road yet with a turnaround.
4 Set up walkways reaching the ground water monitoring holes.
6.2.5 Greening measures should be taken in the surface facility areas.In the surface production area，it is wise to plant trees with high water content rather than high oil/fat content.
6.2.6 The cavern storage area's flood discharge facilities shall not be connected to its wastewater discharge pipeline.
