4.3 Arrangement and Area

4.3.1 The functional rooms and auxiliary rooms in a control room building may be provided based on the following principles,and may be adjusted according to the capacity and operation requirements of the process plant:

a)Functional rooms should include operation room,cabinet room,engineer room,HAVC room,uninterrupted power supply(UPS)room,spare parts room and etc;

b)Auxiliary rooms should include duty shift room,meeting room,locker room,office room,document room,lounge room,washroom and etc.

4.3.2 The areas of functional rooms in the control room building shall be determined according to the number and arrangement style of the operator stations,cabinets and instrument panels of the control systems.And the areas of auxiliary rooms in the control room building shall be determined to suit actual needs.Arrangement of these rooms in the control room building shall comply with the following requirements:

a)Operation room should be arranged adjacent to cabinet room and engineer room,an access door shall be provided between them;

b)Where cabinet room or engineer room is arranged adjacent to auxiliary room,no access door should be provided between them;

c)UPS room should be arranged adjacent to cabinet room;

d)HAVC room should not be arranged adjacent to operation room or engineer room,and if unavoidable due to constrains,vibration damping and sound insulation measures shall be made.A door accessing the outside of the control room building shall be provided for HAVC room,and the door shall be sized to suit the need for equipments move-in and move-out.

4.3.3 Operation room shall have equipments arranged in compliance with the following requirements,and shall have minimum 20% space reserved for future expansion:

a)Equipments layout shall be designed in accordance with ergonomic requirements;

b)Operator stations may be arranged in a straight line,broken line or curve manner,and if several operator stations are provided in the operation room for two or more individual process plants,they should be group arranged;

c)Human machine interfaces(HMI)of fire,combustible gas and toxic gas alarm systems should have their operator stations designed in the same specifications as those for the main control system.And if the instrument panels are provided in the operation room,they shall coordinate with other equipments in the operation room.

4.3.4 Cabinets should be arranged in rows and sections for a principle that cabinets in similar functions shall be grouped and easy cabling shall be considered,and the following requirements shall be satisfied to meet the installation,wiring and maintenance requirements.Cabinet room shall have minimum 20% space reserved for future expansion:

a)Safety barrier cabinets,terminal cabinets and relay cabinets should be arranged close to the signal cables entry side;

b)Power distribution cabinets shall be arranged close to the power cables entry;

c)Excessive cross-wiring shall be avoided for cabinet arrangement in cabinet room.

4.3.5 The area of operation room shall be determined according to the following requirements:

a)The area of an operation room where two operator stations are provided should be within 40m 2 -50m 2 .Operation room may have its area increased by 5m 2 -8m 2 for each additional operator station,and may have its area properly adjusted according to the number and arrangement of the equipments installed inside;

b)The clearance from the front of operator station to the wall(column)of operation room should be within 3.5m-5m,the clearance from the back of operator station to the wall(column)of operation room should be within 1.5m-2.5m,the clearance from the side of operator station to the wall(column)of operation room should be within 2m-2.5m,and the clearance between operator stations in rows should not be less than 2m;

If a large screen is provided for the operator room,the horizontal clearance from the back of operator station to the large screen should not be less than 3m.

4.3.6 The area of cabinet room shall be determined according to the dimensions and number of cabinets,and shall comply with the following requirements:

a)The clearance between cabinets in rows should be within 1.6m-2m;

b)The clearance from the cabinet to the wall(column)of cabinet room should be within 1.6m-2.5m.

4.3.7 The areas of engineer room and UPS room shall be determined according to equipments dimensions,operation requirements and the space required for installation and maintenance.
