1.0.1 This Standard is developed with a view to determining the seismic precautionary category and seismic precautionary criterion for petrochemical buildings and other structures according to feature in petrochemical engineering so as to efficiently mitigate earthquake disasters.

1.0.2 This Standardis applicable to determining the seismic precautionary category for the buildings and other structures in new,revamp and expansion petrochemical projects where crude oil,natural gas and their products are used as the raw material,which are suited on zones of Seismic Precautionary Intensity 6,7,8 and 9.
